Read: Genesis 6

Imagine a world in which everything humans thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil all the time. Lying, stealing, abuse, murder, greed. Humanity without God will only move farther and farther away from God and from what is good and right.

This was the world in which Noah lived. He saw the disregard for the lives of humans that God created and loved. He walked faithfully, consistently, with God.

Noah believed that what God said was true, so when God warned Noah of the coming flood and instructed him to build a huge boat and take two of every kind of animal onto it, Noah believed him. He was probably ridiculed and laughed at, but Noah had faith that God would save him and his family.

And God did! When the flood was over and the waters began to recede, God made a rainbow appear in the sky as a symbol of his promise - that never again would a disaster of this magnitude come again.

We can have the same faith. God promised a Savior, and that Savior is Jesus Christ. He came to earth to die for our sins, so that we can have a relationship with God. Like Noah, we can believe God’s promise.

Prayer: Dear God, every time I see a rainbow, I will remember that you keep your promises. If you say that faith in Jesus is enough to have a relationship with you, I will believe it! Amen
