“Thanks so much for your leadership and transparency in how you are leading through this season. LCBC has been invaluable to me and Charter Oak Church.”
Chris Whitehead, Lead Pastor Charter Oak Church in Pittsburgh, PA
“We got a trailer for our Outdoor Acoustic Worship Night, and the truck driver who dropped it off asked what it was for as we were placing it in our parking lot. We told him it was for a Worship Night at LCBC Lancaster City. He immediately got excited and said he and his wife attend LCBC York. He then went on to say they ‘actually attend the Marina Campus.' He began to explain that he and his wife are boaters, and since May they have been watching online in their boat while docked at the marina! He said that it has been a really cool opportunity to invite the boating community to watch Church Online. Many of them wouldn't step foot inside a church, but they feel comfortable watching from their boats! Next week he told us he is gonna hook up a projector because there's too many of them now watching. This season is hard, but God is always moving”

The year started off with our all-church relationships initiative, and we gathered together on the weekend both in-person and online.
After the second week of March, the global pandemic led us to move all gatherings online for the safety of our community and church family.
In June we began reopening our doors for in-person adult gatherings on the weekend with limited capacity and protocols for health and safety. We also continued to have strong engagement online across our adult, kid, and student environments.
As kids and students returned to school, we observed and implemented best practices to safely reopen our kidMinistry and Student Ministry weekend environments. As a result, we saw our in-person attendance double and our online engagement continued to remain strong.
After the developments surrounding COVID-19 showed a spike in cases and the trends of our attendance and volunteer teams showed that many people were taking additional precautions, we decided to move our gatherings fully online the second week of December 2020, allowing us to experience an amazing Christmas At LCBC online!
“My daughter Harper has been LOVING watching kidMinistry content each week and will ask to rewatch the same ‘episodes’ throughout the week. This past Sunday was the first time she got to join a Preschool Zoom. Let's just say, she was HYPED up afterwards and was super excited when I told her she gets to do it every week.”
Danielle Landis, LCBC Ephrata
Parents were equipped weekly through social media channels with family devotionals used to help their kids grow in their relationship with Jesus.
Family Jam is an in-person and online experience where kids and their parents can spend time singing, dancing, and learning about Jesus together.
In October kidMinistry and Student Ministry partnered together with other ministries to provide a fall community event across locations reaching local families across our state.
Equipping Parents to Lead Their Families in Following Jesus
“Nora and Luke attended our very first Start Here Online Family Experience. Start Here is designed to empower parents to guide their kids as they take their next steps in following Jesus. During Start Here, Nora and Luke talked with their mom about what it means to follow Jesus. Then, Nora jumped into her Online kidGroup and asked her Leaders some questions. Later that evening, after another conversation with their Dad and Mom, both Nora and Luke made Jesus their Forever Friend and we got to celebrate them!”

“I've known about Christ from an early age, but I hadn't really felt a connection since 3rd Grade. I then accepted Jesus, but I still didn't understand completely. 2020 was a rough year for me between losing my dad and some other close friends. During Collide Live, I was ready to take this next step to commit to accepting Jesus as I have come so close to God after my father's passing. The best decision ever!”

Online Group
Throughout the year we offered groups covering a wide range of topics:
The unique challenges of 2020 also brought with them the unique opportunity to get out and continue to be the Church in our communities. Together, we made a big impact in spreading the love of Jesus in communities in our state and all over the world!
“In the month of May, LCBC Harrisburg hosted a supply drive to benefit local nonprofits, and we were blown away to receive an entire Atrium full of donations from our attendees. Over the course of 9 days, staff and volunteers gathered together to organize all the donations and reach out to several organizations. One of our volunteers connected with City of Refuge Evangelism (C.O.R.E.), who were able to pick up a range of items including clothing, shoes, bedding, hygiene items, and food.
As a location, we actually received so many donations that we were able to give to multiple organizations. We heard from C.O.R.E. after the donation as well: ‘A big shout out to LCBC Church, who donated a (literal) truckload of clothing to our ministry. This will help so many in the community who are unable to afford proper shoes and clothing. It is a true testimony of the love of Christ!”

Our year-long effort to partner with nonprofits and unleash generosity to make a difference both locally and globally
This year Sonja, LCBC's Director of Central Ministries, had the opportunity to sit down with Justus Koech, a Donor Liaison and part of our partnership with World Vision in Kenya, Africa to talk more about what we're seeing accomplished through sponsorship. Justus has served with World Vision for 13 years, and LCBC was one of the first churches he interacted with after joining their team.
As a church, we pursue accountability in our financial management, and are certified by the ECFA (Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability). “We are very grateful for all LCBC is doing online so we can stay connected. The daily song and prayer is something I look forward to each day and have shared with many coworkers. As frontline healthcare workers, that inspiration has been priceless to all of us. So, thank you to your whole team and everyone who is helping each of us through this journey.”

One of our goals as a church is to continue to reach the state of Pennsylvania with the love of Jesus. Despite the challenges of 2020, we saw God working as we moved and launched LCBC locations, formed an LCBC Community Group, and partnered together with other churches and pastors.
In March 2020 we welcomed LCBC West Shore into their permanent new home in Mechanicsburg's former Twin Ponds facility.
“Back in September, during our Family Jam, two kids came by that I'd never seen. After jam, when I went to talk with them, they said they were from across the street and heard that other kids from their neighborhood were having ‘a lot of fun over here.' They said they remembered it being an ice skating rink and didn't know how it could still be fun now that the rink was gone. I told them about church on Sunday and how we have fun and learn about Jesus.
They came the first Sunday we reopened in October and told me on the way out that, ‘this is much more fun than an ice skating rink!’ The next Sunday, they brought two more friends, and the Sunday after that, they brought three more! By November, they had a small group walking over from the neighborhood each Sunday. I love how simply doing what we do in providing fun, engaging environments continues to draw more kids in to learn about Jesus.”

After months of meeting together as a group at their local YMCA, LCBC Northern Dauphin officially launched in their new home in March 2020 in the Lykens Valley Plaza in Elizabethville, PA.
This year a small group of people located in Hegins, PA began meeting together to watch LCBC gatherings. During 2020, this group has grown from 8-10 core people to an average weekly attendance of 45-50 people!
This year, LCBC had another opportunity to continue reaching our state with the love of Jesus through entering into a strategic partnership with Parker Hill Church.
Parker Hill Church is one church meeting in 3 locations and online in Northeast PA with a shared mission of introducing people to Jesus. Through the partnership, LCBC has been able to provide encouragement, support, and practical solutions to help advance the great work Parker Hill Church is doing in Northeast PA.
Together, we are excited to continue to work and expand our reach throughout the state of Pennsylvania with the goal of introducing more people to Jesus and together fully following him.
As a church, we're passionate about investing in the leadership development of individuals and other churches to fulfill our mission of introducing more people to Jesus across our state. In 2020, LCBC's leadership continued to partner with like-minded churches in the PA Pastor's Roundtable to pray, learn, and grow together in order to further the mission of introducing more people to Jesus across the state of Pennsylvania. Those 20 churches have continued reaching out to other church leaders in their communities with the same mission in mind.
Although meeting together looked different in 2020, as a church leadership team we were able to listen to, process, and think through the challenges of churches from all over the state during COVID-19 and continue to share what we're learning and processing at LCBC to work together as the Church and find ways to be the light of Jesus in our respective communities.
“Thanks so much for your leadership and transparency in how you are leading through this season. LCBC has been invaluable to me and Charter Oak Church.”
Chris Whitehead, Lead Pastor Charter Oak Church in Pittsburgh, PA
This year we made it our goal as a church to help our communities experience the remarkable relationships that allow us to develop into who God wants us to be. In January we launched a Winning At Relationships initiative with a community date night event and formed Groups encouraging people to invest in their relationships.
A Great Date,
LCBC BranchCreek (Harleysville)
It's always amazing to see all that God does in a year through our church, but in 2020 it has been especially exciting to watch what's been accomplished through him at LCBC. Thank you for being the Church in your home, in your communities, in our state, in our country, and around the world.
