The COVID-19 pandemic has affected communities across America and our world, and has left daunting needs for community leaders to step up and into during this time. On September 8, 2020 The Civic Club of Harrisburg took the opportunity to honor local front-line heroes who stepped up to those needs in the city of Harrisburg, including LCBC Harrisburg and its Campus Pastor, Jason Keener.
The event, which honored 10 people in total working across the health care and community action spectrum, featured Dauphin County Commissioner Mike Pries as its keynote speaker and nonprofit leader and public policy professional Mauricio Conde as the Master of Ceremonies. Other honorees included a judge, a food supply driver, health center workers, and more.
“We feel grateful just to get to be a part of this community and to help create opportunities to serve others,” said LCBC Harrisburg Campus Pastor Jason Keener. LCBC Harrisburg has hosted 6 community drive events so far over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, including three blood drives, a food drive, a school supply drive, and a gift card drive, with the plan to host more in the future. Details for future drives can be found at here.
LCBC Harrisburg launched in 2007 as the first multi site location of LCBC Church. It later moved into a renovated facility - a former Volkswagen dealership located near the intersection of Route 283 and Chambers Hill Road. Services are held Sunday mornings at 9am and 10:45am and online at LCBCchurch.com.
