Paul is writing to the church in Colossae, which he probably didn鈥檛 directly start. Apparently, this church is mixing other religions into Christianity and thinks they are coming up with something better. Paul makes it clear there is nothing better than Christ. Our chapter today introduces that idea by talking about how faith in Jesus transforms lives and how Jesus is God and second to none. Paul is in prison as he writes this but says this is a joy because it is for Jesus that he suffers.
You may know people who want to mix what they see as good things from multiple religions into their own version of truth. The Bible tells us there is no truth superior to us having peace with God through the death of Jesus. There should be urgency in our efforts to reach people for Christ!
