An unusual thing about the Bible is that it also describes the failures of its heroes: Abraham lied; Moses said he was incapable; David committed adultery; etc. The Bible isn’t a book about heroes; it’s a book about flawed people who God used to do amazing things. God responds to Elijah’s fear with a clear message, but also with patience.
We are all mixtures of success and failure, and our failures can come at times when things are going well. It’s good that God is patient with us, but hopefully we are making some progress toward more faith in God.
