This chapter shows the pinnacle of God’s blessing on Israel. Israel and its King have become so famous a Queen travels 1200 miles just to see it! This was one of the things God was talking about in Genesis 12 when he promised to make Abraham a blessing to others. God would bless Abraham’s descendants, and others would be drawn into a relationship with God.
Probably everyone dreams of being so good at something that they become well-known for it. Maybe we dream it for our kids: becoming a sports star, or rich and powerful, or writing a bestseller or just having many adoring fans. The best thing for which to be thankful is God’s blessing. Rather than looking for ways to make ourselves famous, we should let God be his own Promoter through us.
