Jesus wasn’t the only one feeling deeply troubled at this point; his disciples were growing more and more distraught as well, with all of this talk of their Lord leaving them and not being able to follow where he was going. And so Jesus, in this chapter and the next two, gives his confused followers “a gift – peace of mind and heart” (v. 27).
