Day 1 Verse: Philippians 4:6-9
We all struggle to give up control. In fact, we spend so much of our lives trying to gain more control, so why would we intentionally give it up? Maybe for you it’s your job, and wanting to know you’re on the right career path. It could be your family, and making sure they all end up okay. A big one could be your finances when you’re staring at a bill, or wishing you had more freedom with spending. Whatever it is for you, giving up control may seem backwards, but that’s exactly what these leaders in the Bible did when they needed God to show up.
Over these five days, we’re going to look at stories where people just like you gave up control and watched their God show up and provide when they needed it most. Before we dive into those stories, take a moment today to think through areas of your life where you’re struggling to give up control. Tell God about it. Tell him exactly what you feel. Are you unsure he will show up? Do you want to be able to say you did it on your own? Take a few minutes now, then read the passage for today. See how God wants to protect our hearts and minds when we are worried.
