Read 1 Timothy 6:17-19
According to Paul, when you’re rich, there’s a natural inclination for your hope to migrate toward money. Maybe you’ve experienced that personally. But even if you don’t consider yourself wealthy, chances are you have more now than you did ten years ago. Typically the more we have, the more we worry and fixate on keeping it and growing it.
When riches become the basis for our hope - the source of it - we’re headed down a slippery slope. So here’s the challenge: how can we be responsible without being consumed by our resources? The secret lies in focusing on others, not ourselves. That’s why we’re called to give and serve generously. It blesses others and keeps our hearts in check. Resources are great tools, but terrible gods. So let’s put them in their place by putting them to use for the good of others!
