Read Proverbs 30:8-9
Every single day we have to battle the consumption assumption.
What is the consumption assumption? It鈥檚 the belief that everything we have is for our own use and enjoyment. Should we enjoy the things we have? Absolutely! God gives us good gifts to enjoy, but that isn鈥檛 the entire equation. He also trusts us with our resources to be a blessing to others.
In our culture, it鈥檚 tough to know when enough of a good thing is enough. When writing to his student Timothy, Paul says that godliness with contentment is great gain. He is saying that when we recognize that more isn鈥檛 always better, we can live in a way that seeks not just to consume, but to contribute to the world around us. So, if you鈥檙e feeling bold, pray the words of Proverbs 30:8-9.
