Read Luke 19:1-10
Zacchaeus is a guy who many of us can relate to, even if we don’t want to. As a tax collector, his fellow citizens looked down upon him (and not just because he was short). Zacchaeus was in the business of skimming more than he needed to line his own pockets.
You don’t have to search far or wide to find stories today of corporate greed or someone caught stealing from their company. What’s so powerful about this story, though, is the radical transformation that takes place after he meets Jesus. It’s easy to say we believe in Jesus, but our actions will always reveal if we have been a life changed by Christ. For Zacchaeus, this comes in the way of how he views money and possessions. He is willing to make right the wrongs he has committed and commits to living generously.
