Sin
Paul strongly contrasts who we used to be before trusting Jesus with who we are now. Verses 8 and 9 make it clear we had nothing to do with this change; it was all God’s work. Verse 10 tells us it was done so we could become everything God designed us to be.
All this talk of sin could leave a person feeling very worthless. But God has decided we have value despite our sin. Imagine having someone in your life who knew everything you ever did wrong, and even knew every bad thought you ever had, and still loved you. That would be great. The good news is you have someone like this in your life; it’s God!
