Prayer
For some, prayer is an odd idea. God knows what we want, so why do we need to ask for it? Jesus goes a step further and says not only should we ask, we should ask repeatedly. So God wants us to ask for things He already knows we want, and He wants us to continuously remind Him. He also teaches that we need to be humble in prayer. Like Daniel from yesterday, we should understand that what we are asking for belongs to God.
Asking God for things, asking Him repeatedly, and asking humbly all communicate our dependence on Him. Not asking or asking with an attitude of God owing us what we ask for shows we have forgotten who is really in charge.
