This is my command— be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9
There are many things people can be afraid of! Whether it is a tall roller coaster, a slithering snake or a dark basement: everyone feels afraid sometimes. Even people in the Bible felt afraid, and while they may not have been worried about a roller coaster, they still needed to handle their fear. In the book of Joshua, we are told to, “be strong and courageous,” and reminded that God will be with us everywhere we go. What an amazing promise! No matter what we are going through, we can have faith that God is with us! If we’re feeling scared and we’re not sure what to do, one thing that can help is talking to God. We can ask God to help us to be brave and remind us that he is here with us!
1. When have you felt afraid? What did you do?
2. Have you ever felt God has given you confidence when you were scared?
Challenge: Take turns sharing about a time when you felt afraid and a time when you felt brave.
