Salt and Light
There are people all around us who need the hope of Jesus. Whether it be a neighbor, a family member, a friend, or a coworker, there are probably several people in your life who you would love to see have their lives changed by Christ.
That's why Jesus instructs us in Matthew 5:13-16 to live as salt and light for the sake of the world.
Why salt? Because salt's distinctness makes it effective. In the same way, it's when our lives look different (in a Jesus kind of way) that we can attract people to Jesus.
Why light? Because if the light doesn't shine out, it does no one any good. In the same way, we have to get out and represent Jesus to those who don't know him.
This week, let's be both salt and light for the sake of a world that needs him.
