As followers of Jesus, we are all called to worship God. Like Luke 4:8 says, “You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.” This applies to our individual faith journey, but also for our entire family!
Worshipping together is an incredible way to help your kids grow in their faith while building lasting memories. Here are some tips for engaging in worship with your kids and making it a habit together.
Worship through music
Music helps us connect with and express our feelings. That’s why it has a unique way of connecting us to God and helping us express our love for him! Here’s how you can engage your kids in worship through music:
Sing worship songs together: Choose songs your kids enjoy and make it a fun activity.
- Create motions to songs: Add hand motions or dance moves to make the experience more interactive.
- Discuss the lyrics: Look up the lyrics of a worship song and talk about what they mean and what they teach us about God.
Worship through time with God
Worship isn’t limited to singing songs. When we dedicate any of our time to God, that’s an act of worship, too! Here are some ways to do that together:
- Prioritize going to church: Make attending church a weekly commitment for your family. And when you bring your kids to kidVenture Island at LCBC, they’ll experience God with other kids their age in a way they’ll understand and connect with at their age level.
- Set aside daily Bible time: Read the Bible as a family and let your kids see you prioritize God’s Word in your own life.
- Choose a family Bible Reading Plan: Find a plan that works for your family and stick to it, like one of these:
Next Level Faith – A Bible Reading Plan with a daily challenge to help take your family’s faith to the next level!
A Family That Serves – A Bible Reading Plan designed to help families discover how they can make a difference together.
- Pray together: Create a daily habit of praying as a family. Thank God for who he is and ask him to guide your family.
Worship through serving
Serving others is a powerful way to worship God and teach your kids about compassion and generosity. Here’s how to get started:
- Serve your community: Look for opportunities to help others, like assisting a neighbor with yard work, collecting donations for a local food bank, or writing cards to encourage residents at a nursing home or medical professionals at a local hospital.
- Serve at your church: Encourage your kids to join you in serving at LCBC. Volunteer together at kidVenture Island, Guest Experience, or another ministry that fits your family!
Lead by example
Kids learn best by watching you. When you prioritize worship in your own life, you show them that worshiping God matters. Start small, keep it simple, and have fun exploring these worship activities together. You’ll not only grow closer to God but also to each other as a family!

Why is worship so powerful, anyway? Why should we prioritize it, and what happens when we do?
